Some of you will recognize the phrase in the post title from Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Slaughterhouse-Five. It is used throughout the book as a transitional element, typically after a character dies. But to me it was more about reminding the reader to let go of things you can’t impact and to continue, continuing on.

So with the market down, the Zombieland virus running rampant (FYI – seems that toilet paper kills zombies! who knew?), being Friday the 13th, and the general unease surrounding us, I thought we could all use a break.

So – embedded below is a song from Monty Python performed in Spamalot. I would rather have used the original from their movie “Life of Brian” but I just knew it would raise someone’s ire. So – you choose. Watch the one below or click here to see the original. Your call. The original is much funnier.

And for those who want to sing along the lyrics are below.

For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin – give the audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life’s a piece of sh*t
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ’em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the right side of life…
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the bright side of life…
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life…

(I mean – what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing – you’re going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life…
